Harold's ABC Card Making Kit (and cards)

Yesterday, I was needing to make a card for my landlord to send the rent in (it's a joke that we have started) and I wanted to just make something Fall but also fun. I came up with these cute Happy Fall Y'all cards and I totally love them! :) I also created a YouTube video while making the first one so and would love for you to watch it and leave me a comment (you can leave a comment on the blog as well ;).

Well to make things even better, I have two kits available in my Etsy shop for the stamp set and 10 card blanks. I have also listed other stamp set collections up there as well and hope that you will take part in purchasing them.

Remember when you purchase items at the same time, you save money on shipping because you get reduced shipping on the following items. If there is more than $1 in shipping overpaid, I will refund the difference. I work hard to keep the shipping costs as low as possible and use the good ole' USPS and test things before I list them so hopefully that won't have to happen to often.

First Monday Trade Days- Canton, TX

The First Monday of every month (or actually the weekend that includes the First Monday) is an amazing weekend in a small town east of us. Canton, TX transforms into a 100 acre flea market filled with crafts, antiques and more!

As a child my grandparents lived in Canton and it was more of just a flea market then. We went regularly and spent good times with Papa just looking for junk. We would always come back with some little treasure that we thought was the best. Over the years it has definitely grown and become one of the most interesting places to shop.

Yesterday, Michael, my mom, dad and I all took the trip out there (only about 25 mintues from us) to go spend the day. We started out together and then we split up after about 30 minutes. I saw the cutest little onesie in a shop and had to share it. When we have a baby girl, she will defitely have COOL clothes like this! :)

As we were walking, there was this HUGE store that sells wooden accents. They sell them blank for you to decorate and have some pieces ready for you to buy already made. I took this for my Saints buddies. :) LOVE YA Taffy!

I was so amazed by this booth (Ribbon Oasis as I call it) and they actually have 3 in the whole place. I bought about 20 yards of various ribbons and twine for $10. I LOVED IT! Can't wait to use them on my projects that are upcoming (and of course get more).

This time of the year most booths are putting out their Christmas stuff. Many of the booths stated "No Pictures" but I did take some when I could. This little sign was cute and I think I see something like this in my future.

While we were there (for five hours none the less), Hubby and I had a great time. We shared a corn dog and hand-squeezed lemonade. I am definitely sure that we will be back. We started talking about going in January when the holiday season was past us and I can't wait. Hopefully by then I will be out of my boot completely and can walk without pain. :)

What a trip down memory lane and great pictures to go in my Halloween 2010 mini album! :) Oh and don't think that the ribbon was all I got. I got a wooden owl and branch to hang in my studio (picture soon), a frame for our living room Live, Laugh, Love wall, some magnets for the refrigerator and Michael got a Cowboy Toothpick Clip.

Glimmer Mist Gals Club

October shipped earlier this week. We were so sorry for the delay but waiting on the one last color was just frustrating.

October colors were: Moonlight, Mustard Seed, Fully Purple, Deep Plum, and Gold.

November will be shipping next week! It came in at 8:30 pm tonight! Gotta love my UPS man! :)

November colors are: Vanilla Breeze, Coffee Shop, Latte, Antique Brass and Pearl (repeated because Juniper has been discontinued)

"Happy Times" Layout

I created this layout for the Posh Designs Scrapbook Store Layout Challenge #18 (due 10/25) and the Etsy Inspired Challenge #111 (due 10/29).

Both sites have regular challenges and I was excited that I got to not only play along but got to participate in two challenges this weekend. I am definitely working on my wedding album piece by piece and would LOVE to have it done by our second anniversary in April but I'm not going to force it. :)

Dear All,

First of all, let me thank you for all of the support that we have had over the past year at Live.Teach.Create. We have definitely learned a lot during this time and are better people because of you.

Over the last few months, Live.Teach.Create has grown way beyond what I expected. We originally had planned for Michael to cut back to a part-time job once I started back to school full time. We were not able to do this and therefore we have been stretched thin with both of us working over a 40 hour a week job, my involvement in my school outside of the teaching day and four fur-babies that we are constantly loving on. It got to the point where all we did was work between full-time jobs and Live.Teach.Create. We never had time for each other and that is not the way to live a married life in our eyes.

We plan to continue with Glimmer Mist Girls through January (the last mailing) and then see where things are then. All items that have been pre-ordered are still on order and we will be posting updates as we get them from our manufacturer. Our regular rep is coming back from maternity leave soon and this will definitely help. We are still liquidating our inventory on the site. If you place an order on the site, make sure to use the code inv30liq to get your 30% discount. If an item is not in stock, we are refunding currently as we are trying to clear out all the overstock that we have in our home.

As for what the future holds, I plan to going back to creating things and putting them on Etsy. I will also special order from our distributors for anyone and give them a great deal. These things will be taken care of via email (or the occasional posting on the site to announce things) to liveteachcreate@gmail.com. Each order will be on a quote basis and done like we did the Beach Buy way back when. I will charge you originally for the product that you ordered and then once it comes in, I will then charge for the shipping minus a credit if any items were back-ordered.

I again want to thank you all for all the wonderful things that you have done for us. You mean a lot to me and I hope to continue to serve you in many ways. :)

Tattered Angels has also discontinued one of next month's colors as part of the 60 standard colors so we are replacing it with Pearl. I know that we did Pearl back in February but it is the most popular color by far and I wanted to let you get an extra of that since they didn't have enough of the other colors that we needed on hand.

Halloween 2010 Mini Album

I am so excited to be starting my Halloween Mini Album for 2010 with great plans (and a deadline) of finishing. I know that I am probably the only one out there who gets tired of a project and then just "shelves" it for later. I have so many ideas that I think of that I get Scrappers ADD and want to go onto the next bigger and better thing. I love and hate this about my brain. LOL!

Well, this year I decided that I would give myself a deadline for this mini album. It has a purpose (Michael's Birthday) and I know that it is something he will enjoy. I've never been a big celebrator of Halloween (how I grew up) and so this being his FAVORITE holiday is something I am having to become accustomed to.

Here is a link to the video that I have created showing you what I have gathered so far for my Halloween Mini Album. I plan for this to become a few more YouTube videos but I will also be working on it live on UStream on October 17th and 24th. There will be NO USTream on October 10th due to a wedding that I am attending.

Where did the week go?

In the past week:

- I got bit by seasonal allergies... YUCK!
- Rita hosted Live with Live.Teach.Create Episode #3
- We went over 1000 subscribers on YouTube (currently 1011) and uploaded our 191st Video!
- I got caught up on all pending orders at Live.Teach.Create and have many new products coming in (check out the video for the latest).
- I did two days at work without my walking boot. Had some pain but it was worth it for the satisfaction of knowing that it will be possible.
- Went to the Foot Specialist this morning, he doesn't think what I have it RSD but more of just a Nerve Issue, gave me a shot of Cortizone in my arch, and put me in a lace-up walking cast to wear with my boot and a schedule to follow for taking my boot off. WOO HOO!

September Challenge for Live.Teach.Create

Are you ready for another challenge at Live.Teach.Create? Well this month is sure to please! Not only is it a fun challenge but it is also featuring a KICK BUTT prize from KaiserCraft! :)

So, without further ado, this month you will need to create a project based on school! It can be when you were in school, sending your kids to school, etc. Not only does it have to be school related but it also must include the ABC's. What are the ABC's you might ask?

It has been amazing how people will enter a contest but not follow through with it. I ended this contest August 1st and here it is August 22nd and this is the fourth winner I have drawn. I have made it in our giveaways that the person has to contact us. I like this way of doing it and it makes it fun for all of those involved.

As some of you probably heard on Sunday night during our weekly Skinny Dippin' on The Scrap Beach UStream, this coming Sunday will be my last night to host from The Scrap Beach site.

Starting September 5th, I will be hosting from my the Live.Teach.Create UStream from 7pm-9pm Central. This is an hour earlier than normal time but I want to be able to get off and ready for work in a decent hour.

We are revamping all that we will be doing and I am so excited about the things that we have already put in place! It is totally amazing. Each week we will have a "Featured Manufacturer" each week and that not only means that we will be using their products that week but also a fabulous giveaway.

I am so excited as one of the giveaways just came in and I want to keep it for myself. I will be updating the calendar on UStream each week so you can see who will be on the following week. We will also be publishing it on our blog with a picture of the giveaway.

My Mind's Eye is Coming!

You heard it right! My Mind's Eye is coming to Live.Teach.Create. We were able to speak with our rep at CHA Summer and we are SO excited to be bring in all of the My Mind's Eye Lost and Found and Haunted Collections to Live.Teach.Create. They are scheduled to arrive tomorrow during the day and I am so sad that I will be at training to see all 90 lbs of goodness coming in the door. Start making a wish-list now!

Okay, so this is the biggest thing that I have been asked time and time again, "What did you see at CHA that you liked the most?" I was stumped when I first heard it and was like "Uh, uh..... I don't know if I could pick 1." Well thankfully she let me pick 3, but I am picking 10 for us here today!

This Top 10 picks are not in any order so don't think that they are.

1. My Minds Eye Lost and Found Collection- I can't wait to get these 4 collections in. I am so happy that our wonderful rep convinced me to get in all 4 lines and it is something that I am LOVING! We are working on getting all of these items up in the store ASAP!

2. Studio Calico Elementary Collection- This is just absolutely LOVELY! I am loving the vintage, home-y look to it and can't wait to use it once it comes in.

3. Tim Holtz new Alterations Vagabond and Dies- I am loving this set of releases more than the previous. I am so happy to be getting these in once again. Pre-Orders have started over at Live.Teach.Create so check them out here.

4. Tim Holtz Idealogy Line- I am loving this more than any of the previous releases! His Configurations are just amazing! I have so many ideas waiting that are ready to go once I get my hands on these. The trims are just LUSCIOUS! We have so many of these on pre-order and can't wait to get them in. Many of you have already taken care of your pre-orders to get first on the list to get them when we get them in our store. 7. Graphic 45 Staples Collection- As a love of all things Kraft, I am in love with the new Staples that are coming out! They shipped out on Tuesday and we can't wait to get them!

8. Die Cuts With A View "The Colorful Life" Stack- We saw this on the last day and FELL IN LOVE! This is great for those who are really into the art-journaling aspect but still want to create a scrapbook. I can see many home-decor art projects created with this as it will be so easy to just add a picture and be done! I'm loving it!

9. Echo Park Happy Halloween- This paper is just too yummy! I got some samples at CHA and I can't wait to play with it! It is definitely on my list to get more of for Halloween this year!

10. The NEW Pink Advanced Tape Glider! 3M has outdone themselves. Not only have they made the previous 714 (designed for framing) in pink (for all of you pink fans!) but also made it much more affordable for the scrapbooking industry. It is the same size, weight and shape as the 714 but now made much more economical for everyone to own this. Now, if you don't already own an ATG (of even if you want another) this is the BEST time to get one. If you aren't a fan of pink, just get out a can of spray paint! Hello all! Sorry for the long time between posts but it has been an extremely busy week! LOL! We moved into the new place and have been moving things over all last week on top of me starting back to work. School starts August 23rd but teachers started last week doing various things. Below is a tour of the new place. You can see that Live.Teach.Create is still taking over half of the house! Pretty soon I think we will need our own place for it! HINT! HINT!

We have also selected the winner of the Tim Holtz Giveaway. She has until Friday, August 13th at midnight my time to email me at jenn@liveteachcreate.com to claim her prize. If it is not claimed, then I will draw once again. I am sorry for the delay in choosing a winner but verifying all the entries took a lot of time since it started with over 1000 comments and such.

We had an amazing night last night as I guest hosted Scrap Chat over on UStream. Thank you Jennifer for the amazing opportunity (or should I say JW?) Jennifer is a fellow scrapbooking blogger and an amazing person that I was able to meet at CHA. Her website is Simple Scrapper and has many amazing things posted on a regular basis so go check her out!

Have you seen the NEW Tim Holtz Alterations dies? These are now available for Pre-Order over at Live.Teach.Create. Each of the dies state when they will be shipping. Sizzix has decided to split the orders into September release (Halloween dies) and October release (Christmas dies). We have pre-ordered 20 of each of the dies so far and are taking the orders like crazy. Once we have hit those 20 of each, we will add more to our order. So get your orders in early so we can get them all in! :)

If you love My Mind's Eye, check out their Haunted Halloween Kraft collection! It is just absolutely lovely! We have this on pre-order and I can't wait to get it in. I got in one piece as a teaser from My Mind's Eye and I just want to look at it all the time. The flocking on these is amazing and the accents in the backgrounds are just great!

On The Road Again...

We are headed back home today and honestly, I can't wait! I am ready to be home, ready to be shipping orders, ready to be doing my live show Monday night (9pm Central @ UStream- with Giveaways!), ready to be moving (well sort of...), just READY!

I can't begin to tell you what a whirlwind of a week this has been for us at CHA. We have had a blast, met some wonderful people (which you will all get to know and love soon) and ordered some wonderful new products for Live.Teach.Create. We have many awesome things in store and can't wait to present them all to you.

I am excited about this move as it provides us with more space for the business to grow and more space for ourselves. All Hallow's Eve with Graphic 45 Hallowe'en in Wonderland

I was so happy to get the new Graphic 45 Hallowe'en in Wonderland Collection in last week. Don't worry if you didn't get yours yet, there is more on order and Graphic 45 will be shipping ASAP (not sure if before CHA will be possible at this point).

This full shot shows you that it was a total of two pictures using a sketch by Jana Eubank. This was how Michael and I celebrated Halloween last year. Not trick-or-treaters, no party, just us and a cheesy Halloween movie! LOL!

This close-up shows the Tim Holz grungeboard, Tim Holtz Locket Keys, Prima Flowers, Jillibean Soup Flowers, and buttons that I used for detail.

This close-up shows more Prima flowers and a Tim Holtz key from the Locket Keys stitched onto the layout. All of the bling is by Prima and stuck on a Bazzill On the Edge piece that I sprayed with Peach Delight Glimmer Mist by Tattered Angels.

Creative Ventures- Making a Birthday Card

On my plate this week I had to make a card for my Mother-In-Law for her upcoming birthday. Well, I knew the papers that I wanted to use and just had to find a sketch that worked well with it. This sketch was found by Google-ing "card sketch" and looking through the images. I would love to give credit for it but the blog it was on is no longer available.

As I was packing up some boxes, I saw The Boyfriend collection from Cosmo Cricket and decided this would be perfect. I pulled out a piece of Kraft Cardstock for my base and went to town. For the scallop edge, I used a Fiskars Threading Water punch. I have some new edge punches on pre-order from the EK Success CHA release and I can't wait to get them in and show you! :) I kinda like how the card turned out. And you know, I always create two of every card I make at least.

I also go a layout done with the new Hallowe'en in Wonderland Paper from Graphic 45 and will post that later this week! Have a great day and Happy Scrapping!

Back At It!

Thank you for your patience this week ladies (and gents... yes, you Marty!). I have been away for the past two days at a teaching conference where I presented about Math instruction in the upper-elementary grades. But anyways, enough with that.

Update on my foot... I went back to a podiatrist yesterday before I left (a new one) and he wasn't really pleased with the previous diagnosis, or lack of, so since the "POP" was heard again this past Saturday and I have been in dire pain since, he has put me in a much taller boot. It goes to my knee and makes my left leg completely immobile. UGH! I got in tomorrow for a High-Resolution Open MRI to get a better look at what is going on. He is concerned about the nerves in my foot as well as the inflammation. This does mean that surgery could be a possibility in the near future.

With me being out for the last two days, we have a ton of boxes that are going to be going out tomorrow! This includes the new Graphic 45 Collection: Hallowe'en in Wonderland! Now, those that didn't get this in on Pre-Order... I have ordered more paper pads and they will be in next week! You can go snatch yours up now!

Profile of A Shipping Department

First off, this is my absolute favorite picture of my hubby Michael. He is my rock and always has been. This pic was taken Thanksgiving 2008 when he joined my family for the festivities. At that time we were just great friends and roommates. Who knew that less than 2 months later we would be engaged? Anyways....

The Live.Teach.Create Shipping Department consists solely of my hubby! He is wonderful. He works very hard at what he does after putting in his "day job". LOL! That's funny because he works the graveyard shift while I teach during the day so we overlap our schedules.

From the get-go we have tag-teamed the way that we process orders. I take the order, pull the items in stock and highlight them on your order form in yellow and put it all in a basket. If all the items are in stock and ready to go, it gets passed over to the Shipping Department (yes, a separate room- right now at least), and them wehn Michael gets into the office (normally 10 am- 4 pm CDT Monday-Friday), he then catches up on emails and works on processing orders. If there happens to be any items that are not in order (Back-Ordered) then we order them form our manufacturers. These baskets then sit on our shelves and are in order from when they were placed. I am able to pull any order at any time since we have them labeled on the outside with the name. Some of you have PERMANENT TAGS! LOL!

Since we now are using a new software to process all of our orders through USPS, it has definitely made his job a lot easier than it once was. Insurance and Delivery Confirmation are required on ALL orders whether they are Domestic or International, Priority or First Class. This is why when you place an order that you think might fit in a $5 Flat Rate mailer for example, it is a bit higher to cover these two things. We want to protect our customers and make sure that everything lands in your hands as safe as possible so the insurance is that added protection for you!

I hope that I haven't totally bored you to death but I have had many people asking questions about our shipping department so I thought I would clarify things. Remember, if you email shipping@liveteachcreate.com, you are talking to Michael. He can also be reached at michael@liveteachcreate.com. Feel free to shoot him an email sometime. As many of you know CHA Summer 2010 is just around the corner. Live.Teach.Create is going to be attending this show and we are so excited. We will be leaving Texas on Sunday and arriving in Chicago on Monday evening. Yes, we are taking a road-trip! I hope to be able to stop along the way and update you along the drive. Starting June 15th thru July 23, 2010 we will be accepting Design Team Submissions. We are looking at bringing on at least 1 new designer to our team. You will meet our already chosen design team member on Monday, June 21st here on the blog. I will place here, the requirements for submission and the details of the contract with Live.Teach.Create.

You may apply for the Live.Teach.Create Design Team by submitting the following to: Designteam@liveteachcreate.com starting June 15th until Midnight Central Time July 23, 2010.

Submit a total of 5 items:
- 1 altered project (does not have to be new)
- 1 newly created Layout with a minimum of 3 photos (MUST BE NEW and NOT posted elsewhere)
- 1 newly created Layout featuring use of embellishments (MUST BE NEW and NOT posted elsewhere)
- 1 creative card or tag (does not have to be new)
- 1 Layout featuring “you”- using papers, embellishments & journaling show us who you are (does not have to be new)

All pictures need to be clear and in .jpg format, and no larger than 450 x 450 Pixels. All submissions will be posted without names in the gallery under design team submissions for general viewing. Send a Scrapbook/artist resume & biography, as well as name, email address & full contact information with your submissions to Designteam@liveteachcreate.com . You must also include a list of current design teams & scrapbook communities (forums, message boards) in which you are active in. Please include all links. You may also include an online gallery link if you have one. If you have a blog, please include that link as well.

As of July 1st, 2010 we are going to start using USPS for our shipping needs. We have opened it up on the site for all packages to go this way. Domestic orders will have the option to use Priority, First Class or Parcel depending on the weight and size of their packages. International orders will all go via Priority Flat Rate. All shipping orders will be sent with Insurance and Delivery Confirmation. The fee for this will be included in your shipping so it is not something that you will have to add onto your order.

You will still get an email from USPS.com when your package has been created and then you can track it all the way to your door!

My name is Lisa Vega and I live in Texas with my wonderful family! I have been married for 15 years to the love of my life. I am a mother of two wonderful kids that mean the world to me.
I started true crafting at around 14. I have always loved to create things for others, but I never really created things for myself until I had my first child. I was introduced to scrap booking one day while I was watching tv while on bed rest with my first child. I was amazed at how much I learned about preserving your photos in just those 30 minutes. So for the next 4 months while on bed rest, I watched that arts and crafts show on a daily basis. I was HOOKED! I couldn't wait to have my baby and start working on his baby album. Back 14 years ago there wasn't all the fancy products there is today. I have seen the scrap book world explode into something so amazing in the past several years, and all I can say to that is YAY!! In the last 14 years I have managed to grow my creativity to where there is no turning back! I love the days when my hands are covered in ink and glue, and my face is covered in glitter! I love the fact that I have created some great friendships along the way. I will cherish them dearly! I create every chance I get! What can I say... I LOVE TO CREATE!! I am so glad to be a part of an amazing crafting world, and at the same time know that my kids will have some beautiful memories once I am gone. Scrap & Be HAPPY!

Sunday Skinny Dippin' Creation

I had a blast Skinny' Dippin' on Sunday night at 8 p.m. Central/9 p.m. Eastern with the girls over on The {Scrap}Beach. If you didn't know, Sunday nights is my night to host and I had a blast this week using some great papers by Margie Romney-Aslett. The collection is the Paper Girl collection from her recently debuted line at Winter CHA 2010.

Just got an email this past week about the release coming out at CHA from Graphic 45! This Halloween line called Halloween in Wonderland! I personally cannot wait to see this new line as I am a fan of Halloween (thanks to my hubby) and love the complexity of Alice in Wonderland so we shall only see how Graphic 45 pulls this off!

Pretty Car!

Saturday was the monthly crop for Life On The {Scrap}Beach. This month we had a "No Frills" crop which meant there were no challenges, just cropping away! Well, I got a project finished that needed to get done as well as the layout above. The pictures are of my husband in a 2010 Transformers Yellow Camaro. He loves this car although we will more than likely never own it. :)

Epilepsy and Light Sensitivity

Blog Break: Felt this was a necessary post. I will be back to posting scrapbooking related items tomorrow! :)

Many of you don't know that I am Epileptic. This means that I have had seizures in the past but thankfully, I have been seizure free for the past 11 years. I was diagnosed on October 17, 1991 and will soon celebrate 20 years with this disorder. I do see it as part of what makes me who I am and embrace all of it's quirks that it brings with it.

The reason that I would like to share this article from the Epilepsy Foundation is that I have been over on YouTube and watching several videos, I have had to close them out fairly quickly because of "blinking" objects. I have never had a seizure due to light sensitivity but I have also always taken every precaution so that I wouldn't. The article is very informative and doesn't hide the details of what may or may not happen. It also makes it clear that you don't have to have Epilepsy to have Light Sensitivity. Many of those with Autism or other Neurological imbalances will be affected by changes in lights.

So please take the time to read this article and if anything, put a warning in your videos if you plan on having blinking lights.

Another update has come in on the Tim Holtz Texture Fades and I am hoping that you will be as excited as I am. Here is direct from their email:

"The wait is over! We just received a very large shipment of all the great new Tim Holtz Texture Fades Embossing Folders. And on top of that, Tim's Tissue Tape has also arrived.

We have about 3 months worth of pre-orders to work through and that may take us a week or so to ship all of them. If you would like to move things along a little quicker please feel free to add your preorders into a new order by visiting the my account section online. From there, you can click on manage your backorders and add them to a new order."

The Live.Teach.Create orders were placed in the end of the first month/beginning of the second month (due to CHA being in January- orders placed beginning of February) and so on from there so we will be getting our orders in about a week's time or so. They are closed on Monday for Memorial Day here in the U.S. (as is Live.Teach.Create) but will be working hard all next week to make sure all orders get to us.
